Established in 1875, Rouse Hill Public School is located in North West Sydney. We currently have 31 mainstream classes with 5 support classes that are integral to our school. We have a strong Mandarin focus where every class is learning Mandarin for 40 minutes per week. The Mandarin bilingual program in 2013 at Rouse Hill Public School offers 5 hours of Mandarin instruction per week to ten classes from Kindergarten to Year 4. Rouse Hill Public School is one of only four state bilingual schools. We have a sister school, Ningbo Experimental Primary School in China who have visited us this year. In October 2013 a group of teachers and students will visit our sister school in China.
We are proud of our achievements in all areas of the curriculum. Especially in Student Welfare as we are a Positive Behaviour for Learning school(PBL) where every child learns to be safe respectful learners. Rouse Hill Public School offers many extra-curricular activities such as: PSSA Sport, Public Speaking, Debating, Dance Groups, Choir, Band, Violin Group, Skipping Groups and a very active Student Representative Council. In 2012 three students competed in the Nationals for swimming, soccer and soft-ball. Thirteeen girls danced in the 2012 School Spectacular. The dance troupe performed at the Sydney Opera House and won the Hornsby Eisteddfod. In public speaking a student represented Western Sydney in the State Multi-culutral Public Speaking final.
The Rouse Hill Learning Community comprising of Rouse Hill High School, Ironbark Ridge Public School, Beaumont Hills Public School and Rouse Hill Public School work together with the view that our central focus remains on strengthening in each child: independence; citizenship; honesty; and academic excellence. Our overarching goal is to ensure Rouse Hill Public School remains the school of choice for local residents. As our motto states, "In all we do, we do our best".
For more information, please contact the principal, Peter Thompson on 8824 7330, to arrange a walk and talk tour of the school.
