Shell Cove Public School is located to the south of Shellharbour Village in the residential area of Shell Cove (on the eastern side of Shellharbour Road). The school is one of around twenty Public Private Program Schools and features state of the art facilities, a peaceful outlook and is adjacent to the Killalea State Park that has the Illawarra Environmental Centre on site.
Our state of the art facilities include; computer labs that can be remotely controlled by supervising teachers, Connected Classrooms video conferencing, Interactive Whiteboard resources, gigabit and wirelessly networked classrooms and buildings, shared withdrawal rooms for groups, computer pods etc, covered access and disabled student facilities.
Some of our special programs or intiatives are; Performing Arts, Academic Competitions, Information Technology Programs, Public Speaking, Aboriginal Education Programs, Bicycle Education Program, Life Education, Literacy Skills Programs (LIPA, LIPI, Reading Recovery), Fitness and Sports Programs, School Leaders & Peer Support Programs, Gifted and Talented Programs, Active After School Communities, Learn to Swim, Numeracy Skills Programs, Kiss and Drop Zone Valet Pick Up for student's safety after school.
Parents are involved in and help with a wide range of school activities; Reading and Home Reading programs, Maths groups, Sports groups, running of the Uniform shop, community ANZAC Day march, Library associated tasks, Canteen (general operation and catering services), After School Sport transport and supervision. South Coast City Church, and Physical Culture group hire the School Hall.
The Shell Cove P&C (including Fundraising Committee and Canteen Committee) meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 7pm in the school staffroom (during school terms). All parents are encouraged to attend. The school's canteen is open Monday and Thursday each week. Children are able to order lunch before school.
Special Needs
The New South Wales Department of Education and Communities support students with special needs in public schools in a range of ways.
