The Port Macquarie Public School was historically the first school established in Port Macquarie. It is situated on a hilltop overlooking Town Beach with sweeping views of the north shore and surrounding hinterland. The close proximity of the central business district, historical points of interest and recreational facilities provides opportunities for student participation in wider community programs and activities. The school provides a diverse range of opportunities in a safe and happy environment, whilst preparing all students for the challenges of the new millennium. Our school motto is "Honour and Pride". The school community is committed to providing quality learning through quality student welfare initiatives. We boast a unique blend of students from many different backgrounds. Students are served by Support Classes, Distance Education, Opportunity Class as well as mainstream classes from Kindergarten to Year six. As such, within the environs of a large primary school, we cater for students who have special needs, who are isolated, travelling, ill, gifted or disabled. School attendance data indicates a slight increase in student numbers and is in line with both district and state trends.
Special Needs
The New South Wales Department of Education and Training support students with special needs in public schools in a range of ways. This may include support classes for students in regular and special schools. You can also discuss your child's learning needs with the principal of your child's school.
