Taree Public School, built in 1865, enjoys the reputation of being Taree's first established school. Situated in the CBD, it draws students from the immediate township, the Aboriginal Community at Purfleet, Rainbow Flat and other communities. Attached to our school at Purfleet is an annex which offers transitional and individual needs programs for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Taree Public School takes pride in its motto "Excelsior" meaning "High Quality." We aim to provide a balanced education for a diverse student population. The school's Mission Statement states: "Taree Public School provides a relevant curriculum in a safe, caring, supportive environment." It is known as the 'Friendly School'. Our focus is to prepare students so that they are motivated to learn, able to develop learning independence and demonstrate skills in literacy, numeracy and technology.
Special Needs
The New South Wales Department of Education and Training support students with special needs in public schools in a range of ways.
