With sixteen classes K-6, Yagoona Public School provides a comprehensive education program for a growing population of 450 children in the western suburbs of Sydney. The school classes comprise two year stage groupings. The school also has a Support Unit of one class for emotionally disturbed/behaviour disordered students. The school emphasises sports skills development in its sports and fitness programs. Our participation in PSSA Sport is restricted to swimming, athletics and cross country carnivals. Facilities available include spacious grassed play area, fixed playground equipment, a covered outdoor learning area (COLA), cricket pitch, community meeting room, large weathershed, a well equipped but compact library which includes multi-media facilities. The Parents and Friends Association has strongly supported the school over the years by donating funding for amenities including our Covered Outdoor Learning Area and most recently the provision of air-conditioning in the Library. Physical amenities requiring attention include a large number of inoperable or difficult to operate windows. Other needs include upgrades for library, vehicle access gates, covered walkways, vehicle parking and beautification of the playground. We have recently received advice of funding for upgrading our security fencing.
