Richmond Public School caters for a wide range of student needs and abilities. It has mainstream classes, two opportunity "C" classes, a special education unit and an autistic satellite class. The school's mission is "to develop and promote personal responsibility and growth in each student by giving every child the best opportunity through quality teaching and learning." The student population for 2000 comprised 388 mainstream students, 61 opportunity "C" students and 27 intellectually disabled students . Most students at Richmond Public School come from the local drawing area. From 2001 there will be one Special Education class (intellectually mild).
