Blacktown South Public School, established in 1959, serves an increasingly diverse local community and provides a range of educational opportunities for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. In catering for the diversity of student needs, the school provides support for students with English as a second language and students with learning difficulties. An O.C. Unit for academically gifted children in Years 5 and 6, from our own school as well as other District schools, produces outstanding student outcomes. Our main focus is on student competencies in the six Key Learning Areas of English, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Human Society and Its Environment, Creative and Practical Arts, as well as Personal Development, Health and Physical Education. In addition, the school also has a strong emphasis on student welfare and leadership, through pupil participation in a Peer Support Program and the Student Representative Council, as well as Library Monitors and Sporting House Captains.
Special Needs
The New South Wales Department of Education and Training support students with special needs in public schools in a range of ways. This may include support classes for students in regular and special schools. You can also discuss your child's learning needs with the principal of your child's school.
