Mary Brooksbank School offers educational programs for students with special needs from their early years through to the end of high school within a caring and supportive environment. It is part of a network of services for children with special needs provided by the Department of Education and Training. Students may attend this school from the age of four years and remain appropriately placed for the whole of their school life, or may move to access another service following integration programs. Some students attend for high school only. The school also aims to prepare students for their transition from school to a post-school program with a community organisation. All education and therapy services are individualised to meet the needs of all students with a varied range of ability levels. The individual programs are designed to focus on student achievement in order to promote individual development and success for an independent future. Family focus and assistance is a high priority of the school when planning individual programs. The school buildings and grounds were specifically designed with the needs of students with disabilities taken into consideration. In 1999 a new hydrotherapy pool was opened and is used to provide therapy and swimming programs to students and members of the local community.
Our school has a strong focus on curriculum access and Information Communication Technology.
In 2008 we received the regional directors award for "School of excellence, Special Education" for South west Sydney Region. In 2009 We received one of three top state awards for digital story telling through the Centre For learning Innovation.
We pride ourselves in quality education for students with intellectual disability.
