Murwillumbah High School was established in 1929. It is one of the oldest comprehensive co-educational secondary schools in NSW and has a long tradition of outstanding academic, cultural and sporting achievements. As a result of the school's educational program students become more independent learners and are more responsive to changes in the social and environmental context in which they live. The school's involvement in the local community has been especially noteworthy in the arts. Musical performances coordinated with community groups such as the Philharmonic Society and with other schools, remain a regular feature of the school calendar.
