Auburn Girls' High School is located in the western suburbs of Sydney, near the Olympic site at Homebush. The school was established in 1961 as a comprehensive girls' school. It has been part of the disadvantaged schools program (DSP) for more than 20 years. The school serves students from the Auburn-Granville area and also has about 30% out-of-area enrolments. The local community is a diverse mixture of cultures and socio-economic groups where 51% of local residents were born overseas and 58% speak languages other than English.
