Fort Street High School originally called the Model School, is the oldest high school in New South Wales. It is a co-educational, selective school. In 1999 the school celebrated its Sesquicentenary. Fortians from across the globe, many of whom are famous Australians, travelled to be part of the Sesquicentenary week celebrations. In 1911 the school became known as Fort Street High School. Fort Street Girls and Boys joined in 1974, on the Taverners Hill site. The school motto, Faber est suam quisque fortunae, one is the maker of one's destiny underpins the expectations of Fortians on a daily basis.
