Arthur Phillip High School is located in the centre of Parramatta city, drawing students from suburbs around Parramatta and further afield. The school population is diverse with more than 80% of students coming from non-English speaking backgrounds. There are over forty different cultures represented in the school population. The school is proud of its strong multicultural tradition and the values students learn about tolerance of diversity and inclusivity. At Arthur Phiilip High School we encourage students to take responsibility for their own learning, emphasise the acquisition of literacy and technology skills, provide strong welfare support for students and their families and reward achievement, commitment and improvement. Arthur Phillip High School provides relevant and appropriate programs to equip our students with knowledge, skills and values to meet the challenges of our modern multicultural and technological society. A strong core curriculum in the junior school reinforces basic literacy, numeracy and technological skills as well as essential values in civics and citizenship. The senior school program allows students wide choice from an academic university-oriented pathway to TAFE and other pathways. All students are encouraged to undertake at least one vocational course (IT, Hospitality, Business Services, Retail, Furnishings) in their senior years so that they can gain accredited skills in the workplace and make more informed choices about their future career direction.

Students with disability and additional learning and support needs

The New South Wales Department of Education and Communities support students with disability and additional learning and support needs in public schools in a range of ways. This may include specialist support classes for students in regular and special schools; the Integration, Funding Support program which provides targeted funding for eligible students; and learning and support resourcing. Every regular public school in NSW receives a specialist teacher allocation and flexible funding based on the size of the school and the learning needs of their students.

You can discuss your child's learning needs and planning for their personalised learning and support with the principal of your child's school. For more information about the full range of support services in NSW public schools go to Disability, Learning & Support.
