FROM: Fiona Crawford
Softball

Hi Everyone,

My name is Fiona Crawford. I am 27 years old and am a member of the
Australian Olympic Softball Team. I began playing softball for my Primary
School when I was 5 years old, in Kindergarten, and have been playing ever since!

I started playing softball because my two older sisters played. I have been a member of the Australian team for 7 years and will play my 200th game for Australia at the Olympics this month.

I love playing softball for a load of different reasons. A few of my reasons are:
- It keeps me fit and healthy
- I love challenging myself to become better and I love pushing myself to
greater limits. I was not always very good at softball, in fact when I
started I was pretty bad! But I decided that I wanted to go the Olympics so
I realised that I was going to have to train extremely hard to get there.
(In the lead up to these Games, I have been training about 20-30 hours per week which is about the same amount of time you are at school).
- I love the friends I have made through the sport. Softball has taken me
all over the world - to Canada, USA, Japan, China, New Zealand, Holland just
to name a few countries and I have made friends in all of them.
- I love representing my country. It always makes me so proud when I put on
my uniform and look down to see the word "Australia" across my chest.

I hope you all follow my progress through the games and I will try to keep in touch to let you know what the Games are like - in particular the
GIANT food hall, the closing ceremony, the village etc.

Kind regards

Fiona Crawford
