Dear Rappers
Welcome to the Belonging Book Rap which begins this week. I am Vicki
Douglass and I’m currently working at Blacktown West Public School. I will
be your coordinator for this rap.
At Blacktown West all of our stage two classes will be participating in the
Book Rap on Jeannie Baker’s ‘Belonging’ and we look forward to meeting you
and sharing our ideas and findings with you. When our stage two classes send
their introductory messages I am sure they will tell the rappers about
Blacktown West.
I am eager to meet all rappers, so as soon as possible (from Monday 17th
October), please write a group introductory message and send it to the rap.
The student messages are sent to the following email address:

It assists all groups participating if our subject lines are clear, so for
your introductory message, please type “Introducing …….” With your school
name in the subject. Have your Rap Maps ready, and record where other
rappers live as they introduce themselves. If possible, try to check your
emails every day, during the rap.
Teachers, if you haven’t already done so, it would be a good idea to
subscribe to the Teacher Rap through the School Libraries: Empowering
Learning website. This will ensure you can participate in the background
discussion and enjoy the support that will be available for you throughout
the rap.

points during the next few weeks.
