Our local environment

Some of the changes in our own yards are: trees have been cut down to make
way for a new garden and some were dangerous as they were hanging over the
house.

Some have planted some flowers to make it look pretty.

Some have fixed the sprinklers so that the plants get water and don’t die.

In a park near one of the children’s houses a park bench and tree were
burnt down by vandals.

In our school we have:
painted the inside and outside of our buildings

Tried to plant some native trees on our oval – some are still surviving!

We have a new playground for the ‘big kids’

We have an environment area where some classes have grown veggies and some
fruit trees.

We have a new verandah for shade.

Trying to solve the rubbish problem in our yard by putting more bins out
and each class is responsible for an area to keep clean.

Ideas for the future

Continue to try to grow more plants in our yard.

Replace the burnt bench in the park

Take more pride in our school

Keep trying to plant new trees on the oval for shade

from the Year 1/2 East Para 6ers
