Dear Rappers
We are about to launch into Rap Point Two this week. However, if you are still working on Rap Point One that is fine as we are looking forward to your response.
Last week many of us ventured into our local area, to analyse how our local area and our school have changed and grown over the years. The information you discovered from this investigation will assist you with Rap Point Two.
Jeannie Baker has many themes within ‘Belonging’. Some of them include the visual change to the environment from page to page; how people in the community change and care for their environment, and how the people have a sense of belonging to a place.
This week, please select one of these themes and brainstorm the ways in which Jeannie Baker conveys this theme to the reader (Rap Sheet 3 may assist you with this activity).
Look at this theme in terms of your environment. You may like to consider:
Who you think is responsible for the changes?
Why these changes have been gradually made?
Has the purpose of this area changed over time?
Who should be responsible for looking after this area?
Do you think your feelings towards the area will change?
Share with other rappers your class interpretation. You may choose to respond to the rap by writing a:
Poem
Description
Flow Chart
Diagram
Consequence Chart
Concept/Mind Map, or
An artwork that you are making in response to the rap points.
Remember to post your responses to:

I look forward to reading many variations of rap reply over the coming week!
Keep on Rapping
