Hello other rappers
We have a school history on our website
www.moontaas.sa.edu.au
It shows a lot of the different buildings we have had over the years.
Moonta was a copper mining town from 1860s to 1923 and had over 20,000
people. When the mines closed the people went away and we had only about
1,500. Lots of homes were knocked down. Now we have 3,374 people and the
town is getting bigger again. It is by the sea (Moonta Bay, Spencer Gulf
SA) so lots of new houses are being built along the coast in all the
paddocks.
Our school is in the town about 3kms from the beach.
In 2002 we had a big school redevelopment. There are pictures on our
website. We think that because it was a very old school it needed work
done to it and it needed more space for more students so over time the
changes have been a help to us.
Goodbye from us at Moonta Area School
