binnabinnaman04_rap Barrenjoey High 8's Rap Point #1

Hi,
Barrenjoey High School here,
here is our Rap Point 1...

This book follows the oral traditional storytelling theme in a number of ways such as;

- Not a very long introduction instead it gets on with the storyline.

- Spoken stories are usually short and not too detailed because if you have too many details they can get very mixed up and completely change the main theme of the storyline.

- Aboriginal words are used and also slang is used along with other English words, some words are shortened or abbreviated such as, 'm'eye','m'leg' 'm'knee' etc...

- Short sentences give the effect of suspense, action, and sometimes they are humorous for example...
"Those trees look like licorice. The ones with the long skinny black trunks. Shut up stomach!"- Extract from page 19, first paragraph.

- The pictures help us relate to the people and places in the story.

- We liked this story because it is told from a first person's view and we are also interested in learning about other people's cultures, such as the culture of the Aboriginal people.

 Talk to you later,
