binnabinnaman04_rap Rap Point Two

Rap Point TWO:

What are the advantages for the boy and his people in following their
cultural beliefs?

The advantages are that they have their sense of identity and they know
where they belong. They also believe what they truly think rather than
following the dictations of another group’s beliefs. They wouldn’t go adrift
and they have a sense of their own direction.

They would have a high standard of faith in their life and they would
believe that there is someone looking over them for protection.

What could happen if a person loses contact with their culture? Use
characters and incidents from the book to support your view.

It could mean that you might end up dying, because you might not have any
social life or contact.

The things that could happen would be that they wouldn’t know where they
belong. They wouldn’t know what to believe and they’d start to drift, not
knowing where they should be going and where they’re supposed to be.

Like the fact that sister girl died because she was drinking and driving.
She was kind of confused and didn’t know what she was doing. The same with
Shandell – she didn’t believe in her own culture.
