book_week_rap Introduction from Golden Grove PS Yr 6/7

G’day to all schools. We are a Year 6/7 class at Golden Grove Primary school in South Australia. Golden Grove is a new suburb of Adelaide which some people say is the best address in the world.

We are reporting from Homebase 26/27. Homebases is what we call classrooms at our new school.(Well it’s only 10 years old.) Our big, two year old, double class has its own library, plus two computers, one lap top, a television and a microwave. It’s the newest and coolest classroom in the school. We really like our desks because they are new, bigger and have trays underneath.

We are a class of sixty students with two teachers and are part of 120 students in a 6/7 Team. We have lots of opportunities for leadership like canteen helpers, gardeners, traffic monitors, Parliament House debaters, Come Out helpers and Big Buddies. We also participate in the Australian Maths Competition, lots of sporting competitions, Dancesport lessons and musical instrument lessons.

Golden Grove Primary School is a large school. We have over six hundred and fifty students and have lots of facilities we can use. There’s a massive oval where future Crows and Power players practise!!! We have 35 computers in the resource centre and an interesting adolescent section especially for our Year 7 students. Our school also won a gardening award for our beautiful grounds.
We all study Japanese here from Reception students to Year 7.

Being part of the 6/7 Team means we meet regularly altogether to discuss Middle School issues. We sometimes have days or weeks when we follow a timetable like high school students. The aim of our Middle School is to prepare us for a successful time at high school.

This year we have had Boori Prior visit us and this term we have two more authors visiting us, Scott Monks and Phil Cummings.

This is our first BOOK RAP and we are looking forward to reading the short listed picture books and then sharing our ideas and thoughts with the rest of you.

Golden Grove Rappers!
