Book Rap.1
1. We felt that the country in which Fox was set was
Australia because:
Pictures:
# The pictures had an Australian outback theme because
of the earthy colours and the sparse landscape
#Magpie is an Australian animal and we felt that dog
was like a dingo
#Fox was there because foxes were introduced into
Australia and they were alienated by others
Text:
#The 'desert' suggests that it is outback Australia
#'burning into nothingness' suggests that it is very
hot and in Australia it is very hot
#The saltpans suggested that it was set in Australia
because Australia's outback has a salt problem, where
the salt rises to the surface
#The stringy barks and the gum trees are Australian
trees
#The dusty plains suggests that it was in outback
Australia since the outback has dusty plains
#Magpie is an Australian bird
Visual Images:
#Fox looks very sly, with his penetrating stare in one
of the pages
#The texture looks very much like the outback
#The trees look half dead, very charred, barren
suggests it is a tough environment
#The picture of fox 'flying' looks like fox is really
flying because he is stretched and magpie looks like
she is having fun since she is upside down
Design Features:
#The writing looks like it has been written in the
outback and looks like it has been scratched with a
stick or a stone in the ground
#Dog is always a lighter colour which makes him look
nice and fox is always darker which makes him look
more evil and sinister
#The story looks like a draft which suggests that they
wanted to emphasise on the roughnessand toughness of
the bush
#The textrue of the paint makes the animals look very

The Themes:
We felt that the themes were envy, lonliness, loyalty,
friendship, optimism and pessimism. We could relate to
these themes because we experience them at school each
day.
Lonliness: The other day one of our classmates was
sitting alone on a seat looking very lonely. She had
no one to play with.
Envy:If one of us gets a better mark in our tests
there is sure to be some envy since that person got a
better mark than somebody else
Loyalty:In our friendships we are all loyal to our
friends because if someone is teasing our friends we
tend to stick up for them.
