Dear
Rappers,
Welcome
to our Book Week Picture Book Rap. During the next six weeks we will be
discussing this year’s Short-Listed titles in the Picture Book of the Year
category. I’m delighted you have chosen to join us, and to share your ideas as
we build new understandings about these six great titles.
Before
going any further, I need to introduce myself. I am Mrs Chapman, the teacher-librarian
at Wollondilly Public School in Goulburn, and I am your coordinator for this
book rap. My student rappers will
tell you more about our school when they introduce
themselves.
This
week, our main task is to introduce ourselves. Send one email message on behalf
of your group, telling us about your school, its location, and any other
information you think rappers would find interesting. To help us sort our
messages easily, perhaps you could use the subject line: “Introducing <name
of your school>”. Send your Introduction message and all student messages
to:
bookweek05_rap@list.schools.nsw.edu.au
It would
be great if you could take the time this week to begin a group or individual rap
map, locating and recording rappers as they introduce themselves. You might
also start building a database of rappers, recording school names and other
details that might help you select particular schools to follow closely.
The Program
and Planning outline also suggests you begin your Rap Journal this week.
Write down your expectations of this rap, what you might learn, and what you
know about the Picture Books already. As the rap gets underway, you can record
further things you are learning in your Rap
Reflection Sheet.
I’m
looking forward to reading your message of introduction soon. Have fun - and enjoy the Book Week
Rap!
Happy
Rapping,
Mrs
Chapman
