Dear
Teacher Rappers,
Thank
you for taking the time to subscribe to the Teachers’ Rap. The idea for this concurrent rap for
teachers is to provide a forum for us to support each other by discussing any
rap and/or teaching issues which may arise. It is a safe place to express joys
and raise queries – so you are most welcome. The Program
and Planning ideas are offered as a guide only, and this teachers’ rap
provides a forum for sharing choices you make for your own
school.
A short
introduction of myself would be appropriate as I am going to ask you to
introduce yourselves shortly (though I’m sure some of us ‘know’ each other from
previous raps). I am Wendy Chapman, the Teacher-Librarian at Wollondilly School
in Goulburn N.S.W., just an hour or so north of Canberra. Wollondilly has an
enrolment of 460+ and I will be supporting Stage 3 classes with their Picture
Book rap work.
Third
Term is always a busy one, and this year things at Wollondilly will be very
hectic with our bi-annual big school Production/Concert scheduled for Week 8.
Serious planning and practising have already begun and Book Week may not receive
the attention it otherwise might this year!
My hope
for this rap is that the students (and teachers) will revel in the joys of great
literature, and benefit from the collaborative book sharing that will arise
through our
on-line
discussion. Above all, I want this rap to be fun for everyone: learning is easy
for happy, engaged students who are discovering new things, so let’s
Rock!
During
the next few days, if you haven’t already done so, please send a message to this
Teacher Rap, telling us about yourself. Send this, and all teacher messages
to:
bookweek04_teachrap@list.schools.nsw.edu.au
The
focus for the Student Rap this week is the Introduction message – please send
your group’s intro as soon as possible. Check the Program and Planning outline
for guidelines on Introductions here.
We look
forward to hearing from you.
Kind
regards,
Wendy
