Are you ready to rap?
We are Year 5 from Hunter School of the Performing Arts in Newcastle, NSW. Our school is unique as it is a K-12 public school. There are only 124 primary students, but about 1000 secondary students. As well as usual school subjects, we have many ensembles and groups in the Primary which we can join, though some are auditioned. Our activities include- 2 compulsory choirs, Beginners Band, Celtic Band, Recorder, Strings, Italian Choir, 2 Vocal Ensembles, Dance Ensemble, Tap Ensemble, Drama Ensemble and Drama Group, District Debating, … and that’s just in the Arts. We love performing and have many opportunities. Our class debating team is undefeated.
We are preparing a class drama piece for performances next month, using the meeting between Edmund and the Witch from ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’. We wrote spells which we are using in the piece, called ‘Spellbound’
This term we are studying ‘The Hobbit’. We wrote our names in Elvish. How cool is an elven font? We have downloaded it to classroom computers.
We have a large playing field, tennis courts, basketball courts and play equipment which kindies call ‘the park’
We will be working on rap activities in the Library with our Librarian Mrs Sweeney, and our teacher Ms Nankivell. Today we read the books in groups. We’re looking forward to talking about them.
