Hi Rappers,
We are sending 4 responses today and 2 more next week.
Our issue for Refugees is in the first few pages. It’s when the ducks lose their home. It makes you feel sad. When ducks lose their home they become Refugees. The ducks were happy before they lost their lost their home then everything started to change once it was destroyed.
There are Refugees all over the world. In wars and invasions millions of people lose their homes.
Australia gave donations to the refugees when the Tsunami hit Asia.
Some groups of people help the homeless in Australia like the Salvation Army.
People try to get refugees out of detention centres by voting and protesting.

Hi fellow rappers,
Our book is Belonging. We think that Jeannie Baker loves nature. Our social issue is improving the natural environment.
It relates very well with our community because our council is planting more trees in the park. Year 5 went tree planting a few weeks ago and that relates to the book.

Hi Rappers,
Our group chose homelessness as Mutt Dog started off as a stray dog.
The way this relates to our community is that there are the same homeless people.
Mutt Dog has to be brave and smart to survive. I think Stephen Michael King wanted the reader to feel sorry for Mutt Dog. He has done that well.
We think Mutt Dog relates to the community because there are half way houses in Annandale. Some people live on the streets just like Mutt Dog.

Hi Fellow rappers
When you read this book the illustrator of At the Beach makes you think differently about sun safety because of the shades of pink and bronzes on the people who are sun burnt. In one of the pictures there is a topless lady sun baking. She has bright pink shoulders.
This issue happens all over Australia sun where no protection can lead to skin cancer, sun burn and itchy and sore rashes. These symptoms mostly happen at the beach but you can also get sunburn just by going to the park.
Wherever you are wear a hat , sun cream and a t-shirt and when you’re at the beach wear a rash vest and sun cream so you can prevent the symptoms of the sun burn. At our school we have a No Hat No Play rule.
