Our response to part A.

We read and thoroughly enjoyed " Daddy's Having a Horse" to help us answer this rap point.

Initially, we get the impression that this is a happy and close family as the extended family sits around discussing issues at lunch. The author shows us that the family has strong relationships by the way they communicate politely, thoughtfully and with care for each other's feelings.

The illustrator uses visual literacy techniques to help us understand more about the family. Non-verbal communication such as facial expression and eye contact, convey how much the family cares for each other. An example of this is on the page when Dad tells Lachlan that they're going to the hospital. Close ups are also used by the illustrator to show the family's emotions and how they feel about each other. A powerful example of this is when Lachlan is gazing down at the baby and we can really feel that Lachlan loves him.

We will send our response to part B later in the week.
