We compared one of the shortlisted books and a well known picture book to answer the first part of Rap point 1b.
There are a number of similarities in the families in "Daddy's Having a Horse" and "Let's Eat".In both books the mothers are pregnant and each have their babies in the story. This consequently has a big impact on each family. In addition, the grandparents are vitally important to each family group and both families are close units.We also noticed that the main characters in both stories are young boys.
However there are differences.The families live in different countries with their own particular customs.An example of this is the Spanish custom of having the extended family all eat together at lunch daily.The number of family members also varies between the books.
