Dear Picture Book rappers,
Welcome to the Book Week Picture Book rap. I’m delighted you have
found time in this busy term to join our discussion of this year’s Short-Listed
titles in the Picture Book of the Year category. I’m sure we’ll all be learning
heaps from each other, and lots more about literature through these great
books.
I’d like to get things started by quickly introducing myself. I am Mrs Chapman, the teacher-librarian
at Wollondilly Public School in Goulburn, and I will be your coordinator for
this book rap. My student rappers
will tell you more about our school when they introduce themselves.
Your task this week is to send a message introducing your group. Tell us
a little about your school, your class group, and any other information you
think might be interesting to other rappers. To save confusion, perhaps you
could use the subject line: “Introducing <name of your school>”. Send your
Introduction message and all student messages to:
Bookwk04_rap@list.schools.nsw.edu.au
This week you could also prepare a rap map locating
rappers as they introduce themselves. You could start a database of rappers,
recording school names and other details to help select particular schools you
would like to follow closely.
Now would also be a good time to begin your Rap Journal. Write down your
expectations of this rap, what you would like to do and learn, and what you know
about any of the Picture Books already. As the rap gets underway, you can record
further things you are learning in your Rap Journal.
We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Happy rapping,
Mrs Chapman
(Book Week Rap Coordinator)
