A day in my life as Reggie, Queen of the street
My stomach was rumbling with hunger but I had hardly even touched my last night's dinner. I just couldn't get used to this new house which was unwelcoming to me and brang my most solemn moods out of me. There was no butchershop-keeper to throw a chicken leg at me when I stole a chicken breast fillet from his chicken tray to eat later, no children to come and play cricket with me, none of my own familiar kinds - and oh what about Tom! I didn't even say goodbye to him! There was nothing in this new house, street and town which was really meant for me. How much I wish I could get some more attention.
That night I grew a bit restless and I just couldn't stand this unfamiliar place any longer. So I decided to find my old house. I had to be quick 'cause if Doug or Helen found me missing, they'd be really worried.
I squeezed under the iron gate - Geez I've lost weight! I used to have a bit of trouble getting under the gate at my old house and this gate was a lot lower.
It was night time and the street was pretty dark. I tried to keep under the street lights to keep warm and I had to smell the way.
I climbed with exhaustion onto the top of the steep hill and looked down at the sight which almost drew tears from my eyes. The city looked a long way away and somewhere in that field of city lights, was my true and beloved home.
