A day In The Life Of Reggie

It was a bright, sunny summers day and Reggie was ready to go out and play.
The kids were energetically setting up the cricket stumps. Reggie loved her
new neighbourhood and everyone now new her. She was “Reggie, Regina Queen Of
The Street”.
Once the kids had set up the stumps and the batter was ready they started to
play. Reggie sat eagerly waiting for the ball to come into the outfields.
The boy in the blue hat stepped up to the cricket pitch and went to his
crease. The first time the ball came his way the boy swung his bat and hit
the ball flying in Reggie’s direction. Reggie ran towards it as fast as her
legs could carry her. The ball flew towards the road. Reggie bounded after
it. Not to her knowing a car was heading straight for her. She was stuck.
Her paw was stuck in the drain grate. Reggie tried to wriggle out but it was
no use. The driver slammed on the brakes but it was too late.
Reggie was thrown into the air. All the kids rushed to Reggie’s aid. Reggie
tried getting up but she couldn’t. The driver jumped out of the car and in
shock he screamed, “What have I done? I have to take this dog to the vet.”
So the driver opened his car door and gently laid Reggie on the passengers
seat. The drive seemed like it took forever but Reggie did not give up.
At last they arrived at the vet. The driver took Reggie out and rushed her
to the emergency room. The nurse took a good look at Reggie and stated that
she had a broken paw. It was decided that an operation was necessary. So the
nurse scanned her to see if she had a microchip implanted. Luckily she did.
Her owners were Helen and Doug. They contacted them and were given
permission to operate.
The operation was successful. Reggie was groggy as the nurse pushed her out
of the theatre on a trolley. All the kids were impatiently waiting and when
they saw Reggie they cheered joyfully. Reggie wagged her tail slowly. She
knew she was “Reggie, Regina Queen Of The Street.”
