We think the following contribute to the humour in the book:
1. How the egg is portrayed. It looks funny, stupid but almost surreal with no mouth until it flies. It is fat and round with no legs
2. The egg and the story has a sense of the ridiculous and the impossible. For eg: the way they tried to stick the egg back together again, the way it looked at the tower to fly and then climbed all the way to the top
3. The outcome for egg is comic. He turns into a perfect fried egg at the ned even though it has fallen from a tower. The way it is reflected in the newspaper is funny. The dark colours used in the picture where it falls from the tower indicate its sense of isolation. Lucky it was eaten and not wasted!
