I totally agree with your observations – you have certainly been looking
closely at the visual text.
The pigeon does
look sneaky when his head pops around the edge of the page. You just know he’s
up to mischief.
I have also read
the other books by Mo Willems that you’ve mentioned. He certainly enjoys
his own characters. Have you checked out his website yet?
I must try to get
hold of Gasp. I am pleased that
you are looking at the visual images in other texts. It is amazing how much
they support, and often go beyond, the meaning of the written text.
I wonder if the
Nowra lollyrappers have found other ways that humour is portrayed visually?
