                        Rap point 2
                                                “SHREK”

Hello this is Dylan and Chris from Parramatta High School. This is our response to rap point 2.

The establishing sequence of “Shrek” challenges our expectations of what we expect in a traditional fairytale in a number of ways. The first example of this is when Shrek reads the fairytale book but then rips it up and uses it as toilet paper quoting “like that’s ever going to happen”.

The composer of the film has portrayed Shrek as a contrast to Prince Charming. Normally the prince is clean, charming, rich and handsome. But Shrek is the complete opposite of what the prince is. Shrek’s lifestyle is nothing like Prince Charming. We see close ups of Shrek doing revolting things such as when he farts in the lake. Shrek lives in a swamp and still he is the hero who gets the girl in the end of the film. This has the effect of making it a funny film.

As an audience we are positioned to respond to this film in a positive way through laughter. There are many funny scenes in this film such as donkey getting hit by fairy dust allowing him to fly he quotes “now im a flying talking donkey” teasing the guards to bad for donkey he starts falling another example is wen shrek rescues the princes and then goes after donkey he slides down a broken cement handrail hitting his grind on a raised block of cement.

This is Dylan and Chris from 8 English 1 Parramatta thanks for reading c ya.
