We think a tall tale is a lie that is partly true and has some exaggeration in it. If you tell a tall tale you will get into trouble, lots of trouble. You can also tell silly lies like Nancy’s mum did.
Nancy’s tall tale was trying to impress her teacher because she wanted to be the best. The moral of this tall tale is not to tell silly lies because it just gets you into more & more trouble. Nancy also got into trouble!
Nancy’s mum’s tall tale was making up silly excuses to get out of trouble. You can get into more trouble by telling silly excuses and exaggerating. Nancy’s mum was just trying to help but she got Nancy into more trouble.
The last tall tale was about Nancy’s mum swallowing flies. We think that she was exaggerating about how many flies she swallowed. We think that the message is to keep your mouth shut.
