Hi Chris J and Matt
Thanks for your questions. See how
I go with these answers.
1. My daughter's bad mood after
school one day inspired me. I thought that anyone that could get in that
big a bad mood was worth writing about! It was really that thing of
working out about making up stories, and telling fibs, and what the
difference between stories and fibs is, that got me going.
2. First and foremost a good
story is one that works for different people in different ways, so I'd
like to think each of us get something different from each of the books
according to who we are and what sense we are making of the world. For
me, Flytrap talks to me about finding the specialness in yourself and
relaxing into being who you are, and recognizing what is unique and special
about yourself, just the way you are. It's also about my culure
and Aboriginal culture finding ways to inspire each other, and create wonder
and beauty out of our shared experience.
3. I think Flytrap nearly took 18
months or so to get right in the writing.
4. I think when she gets the
necklace. That seems pretty special to me. How about you.
Which bit do you like the best?
5. That's my daughter Grace on the
front cover of the book.
Thanks for asking the
questions.
All the best
