THIS WEEK'S TASK!
Many thanks to all the schools that sent in their responses to last week's rap point one. If you haven't yet sent your brief statement explaining to other students why it is important to be physically active and three examples of ways that students in your class could increase their physical activity levels - it's not too late!
This week, you will be exploring the need for safety in physical activity and games and sports. By the end of the week we would love to hear from each class involved in the rap:
* a checklist of considerations that must be taken into account when participating in particular physical activities, games or sports.
Given it was Walk SafeIy to School Day a bit over a week ago, I thought about the considerations that must be taken into account when walking to school....
For example
When walking to school I must:
1. Select the safest and most direct route
2. Walking on the footpath or as far away as possible from the traffic
3. Cross the road only at designated crossings or in quite streets if possible
4. When I cross the road, I need to Stop! Look! Listen! Think! (Taking sufficient time to look and listen)
5. Be careful of cars reversing out of driveways
6. Never run across the road even if someone calls me
7. If I cross at the lights, I will only cross when a green WALK signal is showing and the traffic has stopped.
I look forward to hearing your examples.
