getactive06_rap Getting Active at Currans Hill

Hey rappers, I am from Currans Hill Public School. This term two year 6 classes are participating in the Get Active Book Rap. I am in year 6 and my teacher is Mr Woudsma and he is the best teacher in the world. On Wednesday mornings our principal, Mrs Allen, is taking our rap group as part of our integrated learning studies.

Currans Hill is around 10 to 15 minutes away from Campbelltown in the very south west of Sydney just as you head out to Canberra on the M5 expressway.

We are an excellent school with lots of good teachers and staff members including teacher aids and a very creative GA who helped our Librarian build a lovely Reading Rocks garden last year. It even has a water feature and some resident dwarves.

We have around 550 students at Currans Hill Public School and we are still growing. Our school has only been here for five years and is middle of a new housing development area.

We love participating in a variety of activities such as Gala Days(PSSA), Wakakirri, Debating competitions, Premiers Reading Challenge and Parliament. We even have a recorder group who played at the Opera House last year and our choir sang in the Primary Proms.

We really enjoy competitions and sporting events such as swimming carnivals and athletics events. These are led by our fantastic House Captains. You probably would have trouble pronouncing our house names as they are Aboriginal flowers from our area.

At Currans Hill we have student leaders who run the assemblies and help others. We run D.E.A.R groups after recess with the whole school mixed together to help us really enjoy reading as a leisure time pursuit. Year 6 run peer support at our school.

I think we are the best school in NSW because we always show good sportsmanship both inside and outside of the school grounds. We have learnt to cooperate with each other very well. Our school logo is "Growing together, learning together" and I thing that it represents us very well because that is exactly what we are doing.
