Hi to all the Get Active rappers
What a great week of Commonwealth Games we
have had with Australian athletes performing so well. From your responses it
sounds like you have had some good discussions and found some very interesting
facts about the Commonwealth Games.
I have enjoyed lots of sports this week and
I was very interested last night to see a cyclist from the Isle of Man winning
a medal and hold up a very unusual flag.

I decided to find out a bit more.
The Isle of Man National Flag comprises the
white, grey and yellow 'Three Legs' set against a red background. The National
Symbol is the Three Legs of Man, first officially used in the early fourteenth
century on the isle of Mans Sword of State.
The legs, clad in armour and bearing spurs,
run in a clockwise direction and bear a motto which means 'Whichever way you
throw it, it will stand'. I am just glad that the Commonwealth Games cyclist, Mark
Cavendish, didn’t have armour and spurs on his legs.
This week you have a chance to find out
more about a particular event in the Commonwealth Games and discuss what
qualities and characteristics these top athletes possess. I look forward to
hearing the results of your discussions.
You need to submit the following
1. Share
responses about the event you explored with the rest of the class and select a
number of examples to submit to the rap.
2. Discuss as a class and submit a short
written response (2 paragraphs) describing the attributes (characteristics and
qualities) of a good sportsperson?
Happy rapping
