Rap point 3

Hi rappers

Hope you all enjoyed the last 12 days of Commonwealth Games action and enjoyed discussing the games with your classmates and fellow rappers. There were certainly lots of highlights.

I was very impressed with the list of characteristics of good sports people your classes developed.

Many of you mentioned sportsmanship as a good quality and I think Australian runner Craig Mottram provided us all with a great example of this. He was very disappointed to miss out on Gold in the 5000m and even more disappointed to fall over in the 1500m but he still was able to accept that these things can happen. He is already starting to focus on his next race. No tantrums or carry on - true sportsmanship.

This week you have an opportunity to talk about your own participation in physical activity. Remember that physical activity includes organised sport but also includes lots of other activities like bike riding, skipping, skateboarding and walking.

I am sure you will have some interesting discussions about the physical activity at school, at home, with friends, at the local club and on your own.

After your discussions you can share the following with other rappers.

As a class:

·      provide a brief statement explaining to other students, why it is important to be physically active

·      provide three examples of ways that most students in your class could increase their physical activity levels.

NB. One response per class please.

 Happy Rapping

Allan Booth
