We spent a lot of time talking about Safe Ways to be Active, and came up with tons of exciting ways to either become active, maintain our fitness and of course improve our fitness with fun activies.
There are far too many activities to list them all, so we've cut it down to the most popular ideas we discussed.
Our class feels the most important reasons for being physically active are:
to stay happy and healthy
to achieve sporting goals through training
to keep yourself and others enthusiastic about outside activitie!
s by
playing fun games
to meet interesting people
to make friends
Three examples of ways kids in our class could increase their physical activity levels are:
Help around the house by doing chores like: washing the dishes, set the table, wash the dog, tidy room, vacuum, make your bed or mow the lawn.
Play a sport/activity after school or on weekends like: soccer, cricket, baseball, hockey, AFL, dancing, swimming, netball, fencing, basketball or rugby.
Don't sit in front of the TV/computer or Playstation, get outside and ride a bike, go rollerblading, ice-!
skating,
dancing, walk along the beach, play in a park with a frisbie or get a group of friends together and play a game of soccer etc.
It doesn't matter what you do to stay active, just remember it's not only fun getting active but it's really good for you to.
