This week 4/5L discussed the different ways that we travel to school.The two most common methods for 4/5L students coming to school were by car and by walking.
After that we did research on the internet where we looked for saftey tips for travelling to school.
Our results are listed below.
For walking :
Use marked crossing
Don't asume
that a car will stop at lights or even pedestrian crossings
Don't cross multi-lanes/heavy traffic
If under 10 years old hold parents hand
Don't start to cross if the red symbol is flashing.
Before crossing the road always look and listen.
If no footpath is availble walk facing the on-coming traffic.
Don't cross behind or in front of buses because you are not visible to motorists.
Be a good role model or other children.
Riding a bike :
It's cool to wear a helmet-it might save your life.
Stay off the
road(on your bike)until you're 12 years old and you are confident
Learn and follow the road rules.
Don't speed!
Make sure that your bike is properly maintained .eg.tyres,chains,seat...
Don't ride @ night without a light and without bright clothing.
