getactive06_rap Get active Rap

Hi Rappers

We are getting close to the end of our rap and I must congratulate you on the terrific work you have done. I really enjoyed reading the benefits you provided for being physically active and some of the interesting ways that you keep active.

I recently read that in NSW schools:

  • Boys are more active than girls
  • Younger students are more active than older students
  • Students are more active in summer than winter
  • Students in rural areas are more active than students in urban (city areas)

What do you think? Would this be true at your school? Why?

This might make for a good class discussion.

This week you get a chance to explore ways you can include physical activity into your daily life, especially when travelling to and from school. Safety is an important consideration and you will be able to discuss safe travel and develop some advice for students and parents. You may also have the chance to participate in Walk Safely to School Day. I would be interested to know what your school does on this day.

Your rap task this week is to develop some advice that your class would give, in the form of key safety messages, to students who walk or ride their bikes to school?

I look forward to hearing from you. Keep on rapping.
