1T chose the double page of Granpa and the girl in the greenhouse. We decided that the pictures are close to real, but not real like a photograph. John Burningham uses criss-cross lines a lot to fill in the colour in pictures. But sometimes he does not fill in the whole picture so you see white patches he has missed.
We noticed that in the picture on the right side he is wearing his yellow vest. He wears the yellow vest in most of the pictures at the beginning of the story.
We decided that Granpa's writing is not in italic, but the little girl's writing is in italic. It almost seems like Granpa and the little girl are talking out loud but not to each other. We looked at some olden days photographs that look brownish like the pictures on the left. That style is called sepia.
