hans05_rap Rap Point 1 Message from Coordinators

Hello HCA Rappers,

Thank you for your wonderful rap introductions. We understand that it has been a very busy week in schools in NSW with Education Week and we appreciate you taking time to introduce yourselves. We are certain that you will agree with us that it was interesting reading about so many different rappers from all over NSW (country and city), Launceston, Tasmania, Melbourne, Victoria and even Denmark. It will be great fun locating the various schools on your Rap Map.

It was also exciting to receive an email from The Royal Danish Consulate General. It was wonderful to read about the Hans Christian Andersen celebrations in Denmark.

We trust that you are enjoying reading some of Hans Christian Andersen's fairytales and at this stage it appears that "The Ugly Duckling', 'Thumbelina' and 'The Little Mermaid' are your favourites. It was great to see that some of you have named yourselves after HCA fairytale characters (the Tin Soldiers and the Giant Serpents).

If you haven't yet posted your introductory e-mail, it's not too late! We would love to rap with you.

It is now time to begin Rap point 1

Term 2, Week 5 week beginning 23 May 2005 As we celebrate the 200th anniversary of Hans Christian Andersen, what is still special about his stories?

How can Hans Christian Andersen's life experiences be interpreted through his writing (give examples)? If Hans Christian Andersen had had different life experiences during his childhood, do you feel this would have impacted on the style of his writing?

To complete this rap point, it would be a good idea to visit the Official HCA web site to learn about his life. http://www.hca2005.com/ It is also a great site to learn about the celebrations that are taking place in Denmark for Hans Christian Andersen's 200th Anniversary.

Post a class response to the rap at the following address

hans05_rap@list.schools.nsw.edu.au

Don't forget to write [Rap Point 1-(name of your school)] in the subject line of your email.

We look forward to reading your response to Rap Point 1 soon.

Happy reading and rapping

from Ms Johnston and Mrs. Blancato

HCA Coordinators
