Dear fellow book wrappers,
We have found out Hans
Christian Anderson was born in 1805 he was the son of a shoemaker and his
mother could hardly read his father died when he was 11 so he left school. He
was very ugly so he got bullied a lot.
He went to Copenhagen at the age of 14 at the age of 17
he was put in a school to learn with 12 year olds and the headmaster and
children mocked and bullied him just as the animals in one of his most
favourite stories the ugly duckling. In 1828 he went to the University of Copenhagen
where he started writing. Anderson
wrote several plays and novels but it was his tales for children that bought
him world wide praise they included Thumbelina, the little mermaid, the tin
soldier, the princess and the pea, the snow queen, and the emperor's new
clothes. He died in 1875 aged 70.
