Investigative Reports

Investigated item:

Kettle

Item location:

679 Phantom Drive, Macktonville Shire

Kettle usually kept in kitchen directly under the stove.

Current owner:

Mr & Mrs Smartson (Gerry & Prudence)

Wedding gift 38 years ago

Description of item:

·        one antique caste iron kettle

·        valued previously at $4870 now $5400

·        operates on stove top.

Date:

25 August 2004

Investigated item:

Lounge Chair

Item location:

Lounge room of 725 Lane Street, Broken Hill

Current owner:

Stevie Kemp bought item at a 2nd hand store

Description of item:

  • Old fashioned cream coloured lounge chair
  • On wheels
  • Red tassels hanging over the armrest
  • Holds one person

Current problem:

When owner tries to sit down she bounces straight back out no matter how gently she tries to lower herself into the chair.  Spring specialist hired in reported that the springs were fine and that they were not made too strong.  Owner is starting to get suspicious with the chair.

Evaluation:

Investigation showed that the lounge chair belonged to an elderly witch.  The chair was quite fond of its owner and will not let anyone sit in the chair.

Recommendation:

Send a bogus antique dealer to convince the owner that this particular chair was designed for a certain weight.  Get him to purchase the chair and bring it back to ministry archives.

Footnote:

A further investigation into the chair showed that a charm had been used to stop anyone from sitting in the previous owner’s seat.
