Hi everyone,
Not only were our peers at North Sydney TAFE quick in getting the ball
rolling, they also asked similar questions to the ones we had planned, so
our three new questions are:
1) In the poem "10 Mary Street", the last two lines of the last stanza are
"That'll open no house/When this one is pulled down." Does this mean that
your past identity and experiences are lost or rather left behind in 10 Mary
Street? Does it refer to the fact that once you are accepted into Australian
culture, is it hard to go back to your Polish culture?
2) In the poem, "Crossing The Red Sea", what do you mean by "As we crossed a
sea/ And looked at red banners/ That time was hoisting/ In mock salute"?
3) On a more personal note, as we are all migrants in this class, we would
like to know if you still experience conflict of any kind between your
Polish culture and the Australian culture?
Thanks for your time,
Riverside Girls
