MEDIA RELEASE
As we are well aware, the death toll in the wake of the Asian tsunami has
reached 80,000 in Aceh and North Sumatra, Indonesia and it may be some time
before more definite numbers are known.
To assist those in dire circumstances, the Consulate General of the Republic
of Indonesia, Sydney and the Sydney Indonesian community have formed a
committee, which is headed by Ms. Sofia Sudarma, Vice Consul-General. The
Committee is comprised of a cross-section of community representatives,
including students, business people, teachers and the broader community on
the whole.
To facilitate donations a trust account has been opened by the
Consulate-General of the Republic of Indonesia, Sydney.
