My name is Kelly, I'm a new member to your list. I
teach at Lara Secondary College in Geelong, Victoria. At the moment, LSC has
only got three year levels, 7-9 as it was built only three years ago. Indonesian
is the only language offered and it is compulsory to Year 9. Our school is
putting into practice a lot of the "Middle Years" initiative & research
which has been conducted in the past few years.
Anyway, I teach Indonesian at the Year 7 & 8
level and next semester I have 33 students who have chosen it as an elective (3x
1.5hrs). There are 4 teachers of Indonesian and we all teach in different areas
too. I'm really interested in the integration of ICT into the curriculum and
have seen the benefit of using it to engage middle year students.
I hope that this forum helps porvide me with many
ideas and helps connect me to other Indo. teachers around Australia.
