CD Launch: 'Soundscapes of a Multicultural Asian Australia'
Featuring Rendra Freestone
& The Sumatralia Project
The Rhythm Hunters
are an Australian world music ensemble based on the Central Coast of NSW.
Utilising the thunder of taiko (Japanese festival drums) and traditional music
from West Sumatra, Indonesia, The Rhythm Hunters bring to the stage an inspired
brand of physical drumming. Dramatic beats are pounded out with striking visual
intensity on large Australian made wine barrel Taiko. Pacific island wood
blocks and bronze kettle gongs add a lively and colourful dimension to the zen
of taiko.
Rendra Freestone weaves Asian flute music delicately into the thundering sound
fabric to create a music of heaven and earth.
Special Guests
Acehnese Body Percussion with The Suara Indonesia Dancers led
by Alfira OšSullivan and songs Canadian born folk singer Geoff Belanger.
Proudly supported
